Funny how people act when they're with their peer group, compared to when they're not.
I love noticing the ones fakin it til theyre makin it. And my eyes often wander to the ones sitting on the outskirts of the social circle. Outside looking in. Looking for acceptance and wanting somewhere to belong.
Social group dynamics have always interested me. One person can influence thousands and vice versa, group pressure can make almost any individual do anything, even against their own will.
Rudyard Kipling puts self in a group dynamics well...
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!
I always wonder what has happened or not happened in peoples' lives to make them the way they are.
